My Little Ol' Spot

This is my little ol' e-garden where I'd like to grow some thoughts and provoke a little humor. I hope it's enjoyable for everyone who strolls through and that I can put a little sunshine in your day or even be downright inspirational.

Hello E-World!

You know, if I only had a bunch of bales of straw on a big area of pavement, a water hose, some various seeds and access to my always running composter, I could grow a garden that could feed a large family where others would think it impossible to grow anything. And that's sometimes how I feel about this wonderful world of the worldwide web. I am truly amazed at the things I can find, the incredible things others can do and the just plain awe-inspiring amount of e-stuff that inhabits this world. If you want to play, you could spend the rest of your life doing just that and never have to worry about running out of new e-places to visit and new e-games to play or new e-partners to play with, even if you are a big e-jerk who doesn't play well with others. Serious students could spend the rest of their lives studying, seeking truth and, while being certain of the continuing expansion of their minds, also remain certain of their continuing ignorance till the bitter end, without ever being close to running out of serious study material. There simply is no end to what is already out there and it continues to grow exponentially, just as my wife says of the weeds in my gardens.
And there are times when I start to do something simple and am truly amazed at the e-hoops I have to jump through just to make one little purchase or find one little item or bit of e-information. Now while I do understand and accept that I have certain difficulties in the areas of concentration, computation and comprehension, I do not believe that the difficulties lie solely within my cognitive realm. There are innumerable sites that have absolutely no fees for their use and no restrictions on the areas of the site one can visit or how long one can stay. As long as you can manage to wait through all the flashing ads that have to be loaded onto and paraded across your screen before the information you want does, these sites will be happy to have you. And there are various services that are available without cost for such things as making purchases or finding answers for instance that are similar in that they make their profit from advertising and therefore hold you hostage by making you wait while the ads play or only display the information you need after you have clicked on a flashing billboard of one of their "friends." Or instead they only have the billboards on the outer edges of the screen but, while they are "helping" you, each time you click on yet one more step, they are asking you to join their paid service so that you won't have to enter all this information every time you need them in the future. Well, like the brick and board places that take forever when I go there to use their service, I can always find another one to go to instead of having to go through that again.
And that is what I have been rambling on so eagerly about. There is just so much stuff in the e-world. And we've really just begun. Okay, some of you kids are gonna think I'm full of spam, but when I was growing up, computers were big building sized things that you saw in B-class sci-fi flicks that didn't even have cg. And look where we are, today. Just getting a good start in a truly world-wide adventure. So Hello, World. I am so glad to be here!!!
